How much does a sworn translation cost?
The price is calculated per “lauda” (a unit of 1,000 characters in the translated text) and varies according to the language pair, the complexity of the text, and how urgent the request is. Send the scanned document to receive an exact quote — we don't work with a flat rate per page of the original document, since text length can vary considerably from one document to another.
How is the translation delivered?
Standard delivery is a digital PDF, by email or WhatsApp. Postal delivery is available on request, with turnaround and shipping cost to be agreed.
Does a digitally signed translation have the same validity as a handwritten signature?
Yes. The signature follows the ICP-Brasil and Gov.br standards, officially recognized in Brazil, with the same legal validity as a handwritten signature on paper. The document's authenticity can be verified, and it is accepted by institutions, consulates, and government agencies that accept digital documents.
What documents can be translated?
Certificates (birth, marriage, death), diplomas and academic transcripts, contracts, powers of attorney, criminal record certificates, judgments and court proceedings, financial documents, among others — in French and English.
What is the Hague Apostille, and when is it needed?
The Hague Apostille is a seal issued by an authorized notary office that confirms the authenticity of a public document (including a sworn translation) so that it is valid in the more than 120 countries that are members of the Hague Convention. Not every process requires an apostille — check with the receiving institution (consulate, university, notary office) whether this step is necessary before requesting one.
Does a sworn translation expire?
No. A sworn translation is a faithful mirror of the original document at the time it was made, and it does not expire. What may have an expiration date is the original document itself (for example, a criminal record certificate).
Why hire a sworn translator directly instead of an agency or platform?
By hiring me directly, you deal with the person who actually does the translation — no intermediaries, which usually means more transparency, direct communication about deadlines and questions specific to your document, and a single person accountable for the quality of the work from start to finish.
Do you translate languages other than French and English?
No. The service is exclusively dedicated to the French ↔ Portuguese and English ↔ Portuguese pairs, which makes it possible to maintain technical and terminological rigor in these two languages.
Is a sworn translation made in Pernambuco valid in other Brazilian states?
Yes. A sworn translation is valid throughout the national territory, regardless of the state Board of Trade where the translator is registered.
Do I need to send the original physical document?
Usually not — a legible scanned copy is enough to prepare the translation. However, the institution receiving the translation may require the original document to be presented along with it; check this requirement directly with the receiving institution.
How is the quote prepared? Why isn't it instant?
Each document is reviewed individually before a quote is given — stamps, seals, formatting, and specific technical terms don't always show up in a simple automatic character count. This review avoids incorrect charges and ensures a realistic turnaround, even if it takes a little longer than an automated response.
